On the next Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, we’re going to have a different session. This past week we’ve lost three people in the world of music. They reflect the full spectrum of fame. From the absolute icon, Tina Turner, to a talented bassist, Andy Rourke who is perhaps best known for his work with The Smiths, to Pete Brown, whose name you may not know, but I guarantee you know the songs this British poet and lyricist wrote. They include the two most popular originals for the band Cream: Sunshine of Your Love and White Room.
We’re going to take our three hours and do an hour-long tribute to each starting with Tina Turner, who in addition to being a world-class singer and entertainer, is admired for her strength and resilience when she left an abusive relationship with her husband and musical partner, Ike Turner. She went on to build a career as a beloved solo artist. In the second hour, it’s Andy Rourke and a sampling of some of the bands he was involved with including and beyond The Smiths. Finally, in the third hour, we’ll hear music featuring lyrics written by Pete Brown.
