On this week’s Rules Free Radio with SteveCaplan, we’ll hear music by two artists we lost recently. In the second hour, we’ll remember guitarist/producer Rick Derringer. Most folks know him for an early hit, Hang On Sloopy, with his band, The McCoys, and one or two solo hits, but he worked with a wide range of artists, and we’ll explore a bit of his diversity. In the third hour, we’ll hear the music of drummer Al Foster. His decades playing Jazz included everything from Post-Bop to more contemporary Jazz and fusion. He spent a decade or so playing with Miles Davis among the many artists he played with. We’ll sample his playing in a range of settings and bands.
We’ve got new and recent releases from Robert Forster, Hannah Cohen, Sparks, Stereolab, The Spongetones, The Grip Weeds, The Minus 5, Garbage, and Lux Interna. Classics and in-betweens by Roxy Music, Elvis Costello, Steve Forbert, Mark and The Clouds, Johnny Winter, Steely Dan, Joe Bonamassa, John Scofield, and others.
