Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Kim is best known for his global hits Rock Me Gently and Sugar, Sugar, but his story goes far beyond the charts.

Born Andrew Youakim in Montreal, Kim left home as a teenager to chase his dreams in New York’s Brill Building, where he co-wrote the bubblegum classic Sugar, Sugar for The Archies. By the mid-’70s, he scored his own No. 1 with the soulful Rock Me Gently, cementing his place in pop music history.

After stepping back from the spotlight, Kim re-emerged with new music under the name Baron Longfellow and later won acclaim for collaborations with Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson and Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene.

Today, he’s celebrated as a Canadian icon, inducted into the Music Hall of Fame, and beloved for his annual Andy Kim Christmas Show.

His journey proves that true talent and timeless songs never fade.
