Comprised of three classically trained musicians and friends from Boise, Blood Lemon is an energetic power trio formed in 2018 that’s comprised of bassist Melanie Radford, guitarist Lisa Simpson and drummer Lindsey Lloyd. Their new EP Petite Deaths finds the band sounding as confident as ever. Recorded in Joshua Tree the mysteries of the desert proved to be inspiring environment for the Blood Lemon trio and the result is a whipping blend of searing post-punk and pure indie rock stomp. Radford’s prowling bass lines soar with sonorous menace and the five numbers on Petite Deaths tackles the wide range of romance and the equally endless terrain of despair–it’s an EP filled with rhythmic pace, unstoppable momentum and hooks galore. You might also know Melanie from being the bassist of Built To Spill, who, by the way, Blood Lemon have opened up for. But if you want to see Blood Lemon on their own, now is the time to do it. The band will be touring in the second half of this month–on January 17th, which is the day Petite Deaths is out, the band is playing Portland and from there, Olympia, Seattle, Chico, LA, Salt Lake City and then it’s back home to Boise on the 25th at the Shrine Social Club.
