Tuesdays 2pm – 5pm EST Rules Free Radio With Steve Caplan
bombshellradio.com
On the next Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, the entire show is a tribute to the late Quincy Jones. He’s one of the most important figures in music with a career that spanned well over half a century. He was a trumpeter, composer, arranger, conductor, and producer who put out many albums of his own and worked with a who’s who of musicians going back to the 1950s. He’s worked with everyone from Jazz artists like Miles Davis, Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, and Art Farmer, to vocalists including Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, and Billy Eckstine, among others. In the third hour, we’ll focus on a lot of those earlier Jazz collaborations. His own albums in the late ‘60s and ‘70s meld contemporary R&B with Jazz. He worked on a lot of movie soundtracks including In The Heat of the Night and The Color Purple. He worked with a wide range of pop artists including teen girl singer Lesley Gore, Donna Summer, Billy Preston, Little Richard, into the hip hop era. And of course, he collaborated with Michael Jackson to produce best selling album of all time, Thriller.
