On the next Rules Free Radio with Steve Caplan, in the last hour, we’ll hear music by the late Tom Verlaine, both as a solo artist and with his band Television. We also recently lost Floyd Sneed, the longtime drummer for the band Three Dog Night. Starting in the late 60s they had a string of hits and their choices of material brought the work of some of Rock and Pop music’s greatest songwriters to the mainstream. In the second hour, we’ll hear his drumming on some early classic Three Dog Night music. In between, we’ll hear a couple of sets spotlighting some new and recent releases including Shang Hi Los, Wet Leg, Arlo Parks, The Morning Line, and a song from a forthcoming release by Everything But The Girl, their first studio release in 24 years. We’ll start with classic Soul and R&B in remembrance of Barrett Strong, a legendary Motown songwriter and singer we recently lost. His songs have been recorded by some of the greatest Soul and Pop artists in music. We’re going to kick it off with a segment of Here’s The Original, where we hear an iconic recording that everyone knows and then hear the story and the original version that inspired the classic.
