Addictions and Other Vices 279 – Kneel! Diamond Dogs

Written by on 06/29/2016

On today’s Addictions and Other Vices I had the opportunity to interview Michael Posthumus about his new one man play Kneel! Diamond Dogs, following the shows’ path we morph from Neil Diamond to David Bowie. I decided not to do any cuts or editing for this program,  just hit the record button.

Our hero navigates his world through the opposing alter egos of NEIL DIAMOND and DAVID BOWIE.

Michael and I have been good friends since high school (Etobicoke
School of the Arts – Drama Majors.) We’ve worked together in two bands
Freshwater Drum and Parker Bombshell and a few other spin offs and
musical side projects. I’m used to seeing Mike behind the drum kit,
occasionally taking centre stage to do one of his many impersonations
of different rock singers to both kill time and entertain during some
of our marathon sets. A great way to change broken guitar strings, rest the voice,
or add levity to the night. These were generally only impromptu few minute bits.

This handsome figure has also struck a pose for my photographer girlfriend when needed.
And in turn my girlfriend has provided a few publicity shots for Michael and now his alter egos.

After not seeing Michael (as good friends do) for a stretch of two or
more years I scored some tickets rang Michael and we went to see a play one night
and  he told me about this new project he was writing Kneel! Diamond Dogs.
He also informed me he that had just been accepted to the Hamilton Fringe Festival
to perform his one man show.
Then (as good friends do) I wondered how he could pull this whole idea together?

This is Addictions and Other Vices 279 – Kneel! Diamond Dogs
I hope you enjoy!
